Maria Nauen was born in Russia, into a family of artists Lioudmila Kartavaya and Nikolay Petrov . She was surrounded by theater, music, and art from an early age. Later on, after she became a professional musician, to wit, a performer, a music teacher, a composer, and a conductor of a symphony orchestra, she realized that her mission was to bring more love and passion to music through her performances. This is especially true when it comes to the Beijing International Chamber Orchestra and its audiences of all ages, the young one in particular.
In 2007, Maria founded the Beijing International Chamber Orchestra (BICO), which is comprised of approximately 60 members from over a dozen countries.
Many of her performances have supported charity for children with disabilities and children with special needs. As a passionate music educator, she decided to spare no effort to combine different types of art together: word, sound, and visuals.
Maria studied in Far-East Academy of Music and Fine Arts , Vladivostok Music College and Central Music School named after S.Prokofiev, under great teachers as Felix Kalman, Zinoviy Fishov and Zinaida Bespalova. In her "Russian period of biography" her interests were focused on performance violin, piano and chamber music. Later she continued her music education as a conductor and composer in Austria, at Music and Arts University of the City of Vienna ("Musik und Kunst Privatuniversität de Stadt Wien"), where her teachers were Prof. Andreas Stoehr, Prof. Peter Paul Kaspar, Prof. Mag. Dirk D'Ase. She tooks intensive conducting Masterclasses with Professor Lior Shambadal (Chief Conductor of the Berliner Symphoniker) , Maestro Filippo M. Bressan, (Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia and the Berlin Sinfonietta), conducting workshop with Maestro Paul Nadler from The Metropolitan Opera.
Maria Nauen has performed as soloist and conductor of orchestras in various countries around the World.
A highly committed educator, Maria´s work includes teaching at the German Embassy´s School Beijing, British School Beijing and Beijing City International School.
In the mean time through master classes Maria Nauen has continued to spread her way of making music, teaching in many cities of Europe and Asia.
